Deep Integration with ATGs

Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) are the backbone of convenience store and fuel retail operations. Kii’s underground tank monitoring capability connects directly to the Automated Tank Gauge (ATG) console at each site, extracting the full range of data that the console captures — and making it accessible in near-real-time from anywhere.

Unlike solutions that only read basic level data, Kii pulls the complete data set from the ATG: fuel levels, ullage, water levels, temperature, leak test results, alarm history, and environmental compliance status. This is the same data that would require a site visit or a call to the station to obtain manually.

ATG Compatibility

Kii supports a wide range of ATGs — from legacy systems dating back to the early 1990s using the TLS-250-compatible protocol through current-generation hardware.

Supported Vendors

• Veeder-Root — the most widely deployed ATGs in the US petroleum market
• Franklin Fueling Systems
• OPW
• Any other ATG vendor whose equipment implements the Veeder-Root command protocol, which has become the de facto industry standard

Platform Capabilities

The Kii platform extracts the complete data set available from connected ATGs, including:

• Tank inventory levels and volume calculations
• Environmental compliance reports and leak test results
• Alarm history and sensor status

The specific data available depends on the ATG model and its installed sensors. All ATGs connect via RS-232 serial or IP/VPN.

Connectivity Options

Cellular Gateway

For sites without existing IP network infrastructure, the CAT 4 Cellular Gateway connects to the RS-232 port on the ATG and transmits data over cellular. Installation takes approximately 10 minutes and requires no specialized training. The gateway is powered by a standard AC outlet and begins transmitting data immediately upon connection.

This is the preferred option for independent operators, small to mid-size chains, and any location where deploying network infrastructure is impractical or cost-prohibitive.

Hardware-Less IP/VPN

For operators with existing IP connectivity at their sites, Kii connects directly to ATGs over a secure VPN — eliminating per-site hardware entirely. The Kii platform communicates with the ATG over IP, pulling the same complete data set as the gateway option.

This approach is ideal for large-scale deployments where eliminating hardware reduces cost and accelerates rollout. Kii works closely with the customer’s IT team to establish and maintain the VPN connectivity.
