Flexible deployment — choose the connectivity option that fits each site
Simple, Reliable Connectivity
Kii's Remote Monitoring solution delivers reliable, maintenance-free data connectivity for underground storage tanks, above-ground tanks, and industrial liquid storage — across petroleum, water, oil, and waste operations.
Choose the connectivity method that fits each site:
For sites without IP connectivity
The CAT 4 Cellular Gateway connects to the RS-232 port on the ATG and transmits data over cellular. Installation typically takes 10 minutes and requires no specialized technical training.
How It Works:
- Connect — Plug the gateway into the RS-232 port on the ATG
- Power — Connect to a standard AC outlet
- Verify — Confirm setup by viewing tank levels and alarm status on the mobile app or web portal
Kii worked with Sierra Wireless to incorporate the AirLink LX60 LTE router into the monitoring platform. The LX60 provides both cellular and ethernet options for reliable bi-directional connectivity.
Best for: Independent operators, small to mid-size chains, and any site without existing IP network infrastructure.
For sites with existing networks
For operators with existing IP network infrastructure and IT capabilities, Kii connects directly to ATGs over a secure VPN — no additional hardware required. The platform communicates with ATGs over IP instead of RS-232, leveraging existing network infrastructure.
This option is ideal for large-scale deployments where eliminating per-site hardware dramatically reduces cost and accelerates rollout. Kii works closely with the customer’s IT team to establish and maintain the VPN connectivity.
Advantages:
- No hardware to deploy or maintain — dramatically lower cost at scale
- Faster rollout for large fleets — onboard hundreds of sites without shipping and installing devices
- Leverages existing network investment — works with current site infrastructure
- Secure VPN connectivity — encrypted communication between ATGs and the Kii cloud
- Same full-featured platform — all monitoring, compliance, and alerting capabilities
Best for: Large petroleum marketers, multi-site operators, and enterprise customers with in-house IT teams.
For above-ground tanks
For above-ground tanks at bulk plants, fleet fueling depots, generator sites, and other locations without ATGs, Kii provides best-in-class, cellular-connected level sensors that report directly to the cloud.
These industrial-grade devices are built for outdoor environments and feature batteries with years of operational life. Simple to install and virtually maintenance-free, they bring continuous visibility to tanks that have traditionally been managed with manual stick readings or left unmonitored entirely.
Key Features:
- Best-in-class for outdoor industrial environments — weatherproof, durable enclosures
- Years of battery life — minimal maintenance after deployment
- Cellular connectivity — no site network required
- Direct-to-cloud reporting — data appears in the same Kii dashboard as ATG-connected tanks
Best for: Bulk plants, fleet fueling depots, generator tanks, water storage, waste facilities, and any above-ground tank without an ATG.
Remote Troubleshooting
Kii's cloud diagnostics enable remote troubleshooting of connectivity and device issues. Problems are often resolved before a retailer even knows there is an issue — reducing truck rolls and saving operators time and money.
Field-Proven Reliability
With systems deployed in the field for over eight years without problems, Kii's hardware and connectivity stack has been battle-tested across hundreds of locations nationwide — from convenience stores and bulk fuel depots to water treatment facilities and waste management sites.
